Information
Philippe Malouin is a British-Canadian industrial designer based in London. He established his studio in 2008 and works across furniture, lighting, products and limited-edition pieces. His practice is grounded in material exploration, rigorous development and a close understanding of industrial manufacturing, resulting in work characterised by directness, simplicity and a strong relationship between construction and use.
He has designed for internationally recognised design brands and cultural organisations and is represented by art and design galleries including Salon 94 Design in New York and The Breeder in Athens. His work has been recognised through major international awards and acquisitions, including the ADI Compasso d’Oro, Wallpaper* Designer of the Year, the Archiproducts Design Awards and Design Preis Schweiz. His work is held in major public and institutional collections, including the Vitra Design Museum, the Centre national des arts plastiques (Cnap) in France, the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec and Konschthal Esch in Luxembourg.
Alongside his design practice, Malouin has taught at the Royal College of Art in London and at ECAL (École Cantonale d’Art de Lausanne) in Switzerland.
