Extrude / Cut, Producer: Tajimi Custom Tiles

Extrude / Cut is an object series developed by Philippe Malouin with Tajimi Custom Tiles through an exploration of two fundamental ceramic manufacturing techniques: clay extrusion and wire cutting. The project began with the directness of these processes, combining the precise linear qualities of extrusion with the immediate gesture of cutting through clay. By bringing the two techniques together, Malouin and the tile makers transform a straightforward manufacturing process into a series of unexpected forms. The resulting objects sit somewhere between tile, sculpture and functional object, leaving their interpretation deliberately open.
